Cooking contest in Japan increases reach of U.S. rice
This summer, USA Rice conducted the highly-competitive U.S. Medium-Grain Rice Chef Menu Contest. One of the contestants, Mr. Masato Gokita of the Kiwa Corporation, created a dish called “Moussaka style of round eggplant gratin with U.S. Medium- Grain” that impressed judges enough to take second place.
The experience of’working with U.S. rice and contest organizers was so positive, the Kiwa Corporation decided to do even more with our rice. This month, they held a U.S. Medium-Grain Rice Fair at all of their restaurants, offering 16 different menus featuring our rice. And next week, Kiwa is hosting a tasting event for Japanese media at their flagship restaurant to further promote their use of U.S. rice.
With 24 western-style, 16 Chinese-style, and four Japanese-style restaurants, finding an ally in Kiwa Corporation CEO Mr. Takeshi Nakajima goes a long way to showing value in the USA Rice-sponsored contest.
The Japanese competition, as well as all of our sponsored chef events, are a very effective means of highlighting U.S. rice and encouraging foodservice professionals to incorporate U.S.-grown rice in their menus.

The S-Tech 800 Unveiled
Soucy International Inc. has announced the launch of a brand new product in its line of Soucy Track agricultural track systems: the S-Tech 800. Designed for high-powered tractors, this track system is the culmination of many years of research and development.
The commercial success enjoyed by Soucy Track over the past eight years is a clear indication that the track system market is booming. Assuming its role as a global industry leader, Soucy Track has made it its mission to offer farmers a system that leaves no room for compromise and outperforms anything on the market today.
The new features include a brand new platform with a central geometry developed using castings, which prevents the accumulation of debris and offers the durability and flexibility demanded by farmers.
The most significant technological advance is the addition of independent lateral tandems on the support wheels. These tandems enable the wheels to follow ground contours while providing unrivaled comfort but especially better load distribution, which increases traction, flotation and the system’s lifespan.
Soucy Track developed a brand new adaptation system that does not result in any modifications to the tractor with respect to its transmission ratios, ensuring the longevity of the track system and the tractor.
The S-Tech 800 is currently available for John Deere 8030 and 8R series tractors. It will also soon be available for Case, New Holland and Fendt tractors.
