Horizon Ag cancels Aug. 4, Aug. 12 field days

horizon ag field day signA rise in COVID-19 cases has prompted the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture to cancel in-person field days. As a result, the Horizon Ag Field Day scheduled for Aug. 4 at the university’s Stuttgart Rice Research and Extension Center has also been canceled.

“Knowing how easily the Delta variant can be transmitted and the rise in cases we believe this is the most prudent course. We are disappointed because we were all looking forward to seeing everyone in person again,” said Jean-Francois Meullenet, director of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station and senior associate vice president for the Division of Agriculture.”

“We respect the decision by the University of Arkansas and, while we will miss seeing our farmer customers and partners in Stuttgart, we understand and are canceling the field day scheduled there,” said Dr. Tim Walker, Horizon Ag general manager, said about its Aug. 4 event.

A few days later, Horizon Ag decided to cancel its Aug. 12 field day scheduled at Coleman Farms near Jonesboro because of rising COVID cases.

“We look forward to staying in contact with our customers and industry partners in this region throughout the rest of this season and to sharing the exciting developments being seen with Clearfield varieties like CLL15 and CLL16, as well as new PVL03 and the Provisia Rice System,” Walker said.
