The Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce named Tim Burcham, director of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture’s Northeast Rice Research and Extension Center, its 2019 Ag Business Person of the Year.
Burcham was recognized by the organization at its annual gala, Dec. 3, at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center on the Arkansas State University campus.
Cari White, chief operating officer for the chamnber, said each year’s award recipient is chosen by the group’s agricultural business committee.
“Every year, they select a business person in the industry who has achieved great things and is outstanding in their leadership of agricultural issues,” White said.
Burcham said it was a distinct privilege to be recognized by his peers in the agricultural business community.
“I am so humbled and honored to be recognized by the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce for my efforts to promote agriculture in our region,” Burcham said. “The professionals at the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce definitely understand the importance of agriculture and its contribution to our regional and state economy.”
As the award recipient, Burcham will provide the keynote address at the 2020 Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Breakfast Feb. 11, 2020. He will also serve on the chamber’s Agri-Business Committee.
“I am so fortunate to be surrounded by a community that works diligently to enhance every aspect of agriculture,” Burcham said.
